Err, which version of java is LibreOffice trying to use?
Tools - Options - Java
Even tho the effect is typical of a java issue i wouldn't have thought that adding a bibliography 
would make a bad call to a bad part of java.  I'm sure someone here will be quick to let us know 
tho! :)

I'm guessing that you are pretty much following the advice in Chapter 12 of the Writer's Guide
