Thanks a lot for reply and tip, Tom! I had found the answer. Java plugin
for LibreOffice had not been installed by default in the Ubuntu 12.04
distribution (why, actually?). Oh, my carelessness :)


I'm glad you found a solution. In any case it is not acceptable that LO
should crash. It should be stable enough to simply show a self-explaining
error message.
