I have a table of running times in one sheet called 'times'. The table has
row headings name, first, second, home for the player's name, the time
running to first, the time running to second, and the time running home.
For example:
*Player* *Date* *First* *Second* *Home*
Player 1 08/14/11 3.54 7.63 15.54
Player 2 08/14/11 3.50 7.57 15.06
Player 3 08/14/11 4.10 8.07 16.40
In another sheet I have a table where I want to calculate some values (Min,
Max, Avg) from the raw data in 'times', so I need to use DMIN and DMAX,
DSUM, and DCOUNT. The table for the fastest time looks like:
*Fastest Times* *Player* *First* *Second* *Home* Player 1 3.25 6.88
13.73 Player
2 3.28 6.78 13.46 Player 3 3.28 6.84 13.25
To calculate the min time for a player, I set up an auxiliary table as in
the help examples, with table headings and field number from the 'times'
table for the DMIN function
C D E F 32 *Fields:* *3* *4* *5* 33
34 *Player* *First* *Second* *Home* 35 Player 1
36
37 *Player* *First* *Second* *Home* 38 Player 2
39
40 *Player* *First* *Second* *Home* 41 Player 3
To calculate the fastest time for player 1 I use =DMIN(times, D32,
C34:F34). Using this approach, I need a set of search criteria for every
player. Is there a way to use the player's name in the first column of
the Fastest Times table as part of the search criteria, so I don't need to
make a separate search criteria for every player?
Thanks!
Mark
