PS: The download server has only 3.4.5 as the final and no sign of 3.5.

By "outside of the document", Łukasz means "on the margins". In MS Word
and newer you can place text in the header/footer that is on the margin.
Honestly, I can't decide if this is great idea or just stupid.

Anyway, there has been some changes about headers and footers in LO 3.5:
Not sure if this
resolves Łukasz's issue, since I use only stable releases. There are
for beta2 available and, according to release plan, rc1 should be
released in
next seven days.
