Thanks David.

There's no e-mail client involved. The e-mail is being sent direct from
Writer using server details setup in Tools -> Options -> Writer ->Mail Merge
E-mail.

The e-mail itself is plain text and only a few lines so should be only a few
Kb. There are no attachments sent.

The Mail Merge dialog shows
(http://www.annedonnelly.co.uk/images/MailMergeStatus.jpg) 2 messages sent
successfully, but no error reports from the other 3. From my experience with
OO Writer I would have expected some status for the other 3 addresses. In
fact, the send process completed so quickly that I don't think any attempt
was made to send the other 3 messages.

I'm not planning to debug this. I hoped that someone had seen it before and
had a solution. I need a fairly reliable mail merge solution, but it doesn't
need to be LO. I'll be looking for other tools if this doesn't work.
