Recently published some material about digital literacy
using floss[1], this was completely edited using Writer.
The problem I've got is exported pdf size (about 20MB).
As there are many screenshots included, is there any way
to decrease size without affecting images quality or at
least keep them readable.
Maybe reducing the *size* of images is an option?
Kind of hard to say not knowing how much is text and how much is mages, but
for the less comples images, .png is far and away the best way to downsize
image sizes by setting the number of colors appropriately and finessing the
other settings like transparency OFF, etc..
"Definitions of png format on the Web:
a.. Portable Network Graphics (PNG) is a bitmapped image format that
employs lossless data compression. PNG was created to improve upon and
replace GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) as an image-file format not
requiring a patent license. It is or spelled out as P-N-G. ...

b.. Do NOT use NOF to adjust image sizes; use an image editing
application. My favorite is PaintShop Pro as it allows previewing file sizes
of the various web image formats.
c.. NOF allows you to set up a default image editor so you can edit with
a click of a button, which is handy too.
d.. NOTE: NOF itself doesn't show .png's well but when published they will
be fine and being lossless they're a lot easier to work with. At any rate,
get the image sizes approptiate BEFORE publishing them. It's well worth the
effort when you go to have your site analyzed for best practice comparisons.
