I reckon that you can do the same on a Mac - why don't you give it a try
and let us know?
Unless Apple has done something very weird*, I'd guess it would work. OS/X is, after all, BSD unix
underneath, right? But, I don't have a Mac handy to confirm.
* always possible :-)
