1 or 2 specific instances of something working does not prove that it always
works.
We have had a number of strange errors in the lists where people have had both
LO and OOo installed. Uninstalling one or the other has often been stated as
solving problems. I am sorry you don't remember. If you want people to keep
having problems and spend ages trouble-shooting when an easy answer is
apparently fixing things for people then i really don't know what to suggest.
Personally i would prefer to solve problems fast with the least amount of
trouble to non-technical users.
Rather than spamming the list with accusations why not simply provide your
alternative answer? Lets see whose approach solves the problem-at-hand fastest.
'Regards' from
Tom :)

Will Libre Office open all the files I have made with Open Office ?
Yes, it will open the files that you've created with OpenOffice.org.
But there are some problems, especially with pictures in .doc-files....
at least there are a lot of problems reported her about that....
My apologies, wrong quote, should be:
Some people are managing to use both OpenOffice and LibreOffic on one machine
but it generally seems to cause problems. I gather that these problems are
being worked on. I would recommend only having 1 or the other at any one time
as there are unlikely to be any differences between documents produced by
either
except that LibreO has a bit more functionality and a more aggressive update
schedule.
...
You'd be wrong.

That's LO, OOo-Dev, OOo-standard, OOo-Ubuntu; all run at the same time,
all run in parallel, and none have issues with each other.
If you plan to continue to provide such advise, please clarify: 1) the
OS that the OP might have issues with (there are indeed some issue with
Windows), and 2) cite the issues that you refer to rather than "at least
there are a lot of problems reported her about that". There indeed may
be problems, but if we are to maintain a valid 'user' list, IMO
responders should at least make an attempt to cite the issues and/or
point to where the poster can likely find a reference or answer.
So how about citing a reference for "But there are some problems,
especially with pictures in .doc-files" so that others on the list can
understand the issue as well?
