Hello,
Please find the minutes/summary of the Marketing call that took place
on the 17th of January.
========================
Participants: Charles-H. Schulz, Marc Paré, Italo Vignoli, Florian
Effenberger, Fridolin
*Topic #1 : Messaging for the 4.0 release
Italo Vignoli has explained the general messaging of the 4.0 and has
taken the time to ensure everybody understood the context, background
that makes this release so special (aside its number)
It could be summarized as a "great software made by a great community"
(NOT A WORKING TITLE). We will need to populate this by picking out the
top features, knowing that these features may sometimes differ from one
native-language community to another.
* Topic #2 : Preparation of the 4.0 release: The Website.
Charles-H. Schulz has pointed out that he had received an update from a
French FOSS company who knows LibreOffice well and who is interested in
providing 2-3 people to redesign the website for the 4.0 release. This
is a developing situation. Upon analysis it appears obvious to all that
instead of a redesign, three pages need to be designed or redesigned:
1. a page on top of the homepage that will stand for about
two weeks after the 4.0 release date
2. a Landing page (top features, link towards download
page, top messaging, nice visual elements and other links)
3. a redesigned download page
Charles-H. Schulz is supposed to schedule a conference call with this
french company upon their own request this week and will provide the
info asap.
Marc Paré has pointed out the offer from the Indian team to design a
donation button that can then be properly adapted by all the
native-language teams. Marc has also expressed the idea that we ought to
work with a design team that would be part of the marketing team or at
least would be interacting more with the marketing team.
* Topic #3 : Preparation of the 4.0 release: The Buzz
1. Italo Vignoli will soon send out a detailed plan for the PR to the
various parties involved
2. Marc Paré has expressed his concern that while he had been looking
for interviews with developers he had received no answer from them.
Charles-H. Schulz will insist and make sure we get several of these
before the release.
* Topic #4 : Outstanding action items
Fridolin believes he has to know more about the general organization of
the project and the community before drafting the "community
newsletter". There is thus an acute interest in mapping out the
community's team and general organization. Sophie Gautier has a mapping
that's missing details but that can server as a base. In any case it is
crucials for members of the marketing team to know how the project is
organized and how our workflows run.
The call was then adjourned, the 4.0 release preparations having taken
most of the call's duration.

Let me know if I forgot something.
Best,
Charles.
