One other option is for TDF itself to be a partner in the project (or maybe
we submit more than one application) with an allocated budget. That would
require a commitment by the legal representative of TDF in early February
before the application is submitted. (Technically it would be possible to
submit an application with TDF as a partner and then TDF could withdraw
after approval and another partner take its place so it is not an absolute
commitment) A typical budget would be around 20,000 Euros per year over 2
years to pay for travel for marketing and dissemination, time for
development work eg screen casts of how to use LO, development of tests or
tasks to check competence against criteria, translations. Again part of the
purpose of the meeting in Berlin is to decide what needs doing and broadly
to allocate the tasks in one or more applications. TDF does not have to be
represented in Berlin for this, but we do anticipate having Skype or
something similar for remote access to at least part of the meeting time.
Manfred is the best person to talk to about that (Also his German is better
than mine :-) )
One last thought, experience in EU projects is important in bidding for
grants so from that point of view it is worth considering TDF gaining that
experience. Then there are possibilities to bid for funding for eg
Development of Innovation. Key Activities in ICT, and probably grants to
support training developers that would actually support development itself.
Learning how to do all this could be a useful longer term investment.

Current situation is that Manfred Reiter and myself have organised a
preparatory meeting in Berlin 28th January. We have confirmed delegates
attending from the UK, DE, Ro, BG, CZ, ES also possibly NL and IT too.
Anyone else wanting to attend should e-mail Manfred (or me and I will
forward it) as we have to tell the venue how many people will be there. If
there is interest we can try to arrange a conference or at least an IRC
session for part of the time.
the discussion with use of the mark, endorsement by the foundation and the
like have to be taken with the steering committee, I guess -- but
independent from that, I am interested to join.
My finances don't permit me a trip, but maybe we can set-up a conference
call on that day? I am happy to provide dial-in options.
