In the Danish translation of LO 25.2, it appears that about 120 strings from LO itself and
roughly 800 strings from the help system were reverted. (LO was at 100%, LO Help at about 97%,
where the number of unfinished strings in 25.2 is now HIGHER than the number of unfinished
strings in Master.)
The template update in question (the one with the copyright year) also
had changes in help, but the majority there were string removals
(flagging strings with the no-translate flag in the source, strings
that basically only were "<embedvar attributes… />" with no actual
string to translate) - and some syntax errors or bogus characters
(encoding errors with quotes) and the latter caused some strings to
have U+009D control character in them. While it is possible that that
tripped up weblate, it doesn't explain why that only happened on 25-2
and why that affected other files without that error.
Thanks to Christian Lohmaier for the analysis in a different mail about the possible cause and
how it can hopefully be avoided in the future. As for now, is there any chance of a technical
solution that identifies the reverted strings and re-reverts them, or do we need to work through
the damage for this time by repeating the translations in each language?
You won't need to repeat translations manually, at least for langauges
that had been translated nearly 100% you should be able to use the
bulk translation feature and do a manual run of pulling matching
translations from the translation memory.
It is per-component and not for full-project though (and as long as
the string removal is limited to the files affected by the template
update, that means 14 components (10 in help, 4 in ui)
e.g. I just double-checked with
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/projects/libo_help-25-2/textsbasicshared/da/#auto
(go to component → Tools → Auto Translate and to be sure filter to
untranslated strings switch to machine translation and select weblate
translation memory and set the score threshold to 100 (you can go
lower in a second pass with the add as suggestion or flag with need
editing to manually review them)
That did re-apply the translation for 189 of 190 untranslated strings
( https://translations.documentfoundation.org/projects/libo_help-25-2/textsbasicshared/da/#history
) (and I guess the remaining one was retranslated by you in the
meantime)

Surely, redoing translations is not something any of us wants to do, but if a technical solution
is not possible, we may have to. The most important thing is avoiding this to happen again.
Sure, but you shouldn't need to retranslate - if other files than
those above are affected, then it is also possible to do a merge from
e.g. master branch.
I guess I can automate this for all-languages using calls to the API....
ciao
