Well, I assume it is because the source string changed - of course
hard to tell exactly, but I do tend to update the templates more
frequently than in the past.

Concrete examples would help figuring out whether that's the case or not.

I encountered this problem again with the usual scenario: first tens of strings go smoothly, then the error message happened when I accessed the untranslated strings in the file [1] (i.e. by the link [2]) and then tried to save the string [3]. I think the third attempt to save it was successful - so I am not sure how much this helps if it is not reproducible and if all strings of that file are translated now.

Apart from that, there is still the issue reported here [4], but I guess that it is already on your radar.
