The committed autoconf patch uses "ls -r" instead, like this:
for libextension in `ls -r $BOOSTLIBDIR/boost_system* 2>/dev/null | sed 's,.*/,,' | sed -e
's,\..*,,'`
and no additional command at the end of the line.
