for now (apart from that it needs to be fixed) this patch makes no
sense, since it does not address the needs that arise from submitted
issues in this area
The patch is about finding functions in the UI. But the issues are more
about functions that were removed or altered with the changes in 4.0.

Just speaking for myself: the moments that I looked at the
discussion/tried the early builds, I had the idea that the work was for
a new dialog for File > New > Templates and documents. And not that it
had to replace the File > Template > Manage dialog too nor that that
menu tree was about to disappear.
No idea if that is the case for other too. But apart from that, it's as
we know always challenging to make sure that enough people test and try.
If there's anything I can (try to) help with in the current situation,
pls let me know.
