If you call taking over a dead project forking then we did it. The old upstream project did not commit any code for around 3 or 4 years and did not respond to bug reports or comments on the mailing list for a long time. We were already providing a set of patches for our internal cppunit and are one of the biggest open source consumers of cppunit.
