* "New Window" split windows: should keep the position in the other
window even when added content reflows the document
+ https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164161
+ Window > New creates a new view that is frozen but only
when content is added below; if text is inserted above the view-
port scrolls down; use case is common and clear (Jan)
+ option "[ ] Do not scroll" should work in all scenarios (Heiko)
+ "[ ] First line on screen" (Katherine, Jan)
+ This bug opens up a more general question: When
a user scrolls to a certain position - what is it that they've
asked to be at? The position where some character or paragraph
is visible (e.g. at the top of the viewport or its middle)? The
position of seeing some part of a certain page (e.g. top of page 3)?
At a certain fraction of the overall length of the document,
which is the 'natural' meaning of a scroll bar? All of these are
legitimate user desires. They don't really conflict with each
other while we only have one window for the same document, but
once the second window comes into existence, they do - and before
we offer anything as an option, we need to choose which among these
we guarantee by default. (Eyal)
+ actually users want the viewport in the non-active window to
remain always static, ie. no option (Katherine)
+ vaguely remember a similar discussion (Heiko)
=> do not scroll (expert option to re-enable ole/current behavior)
(Scrolling here meaning: Do not move main content on screen,
even though page start/end, footers etc. might scroll by and disappear)
* CLONE FORMATTING: Add possibility to change paint bucket to
normal cursor
+ https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165303
+ cursor hotspot with our current icon is not clear (Eyal)
+ pointer design of an arrow + bucket as shared in comment 6
looks good, easy to understand which cell is affected (Eyal)
+ video shows a bug in that the hotspot is obviously off the cursor
(or at least its visible parts);
+ would keep the icon (Jan)
+ looks like a macOS or high-res issue (Heiko)
=> forward to dev
* AutoCorrect/Word Completion – Suggest longest common prefix instead
of first alphabetical match
+ https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=173167
+ don't know any application that completes the text stem (Jan). This
needs to be explored whether how it is like to use it.
+ Calc has some AC that also completes to the first word; we should
maintain consistency whichever thing we do (Eyal)
+ The longest-common-stem might make sense if we were to present
a list of possible words; without it, it's very unhelpful, since
the user doesn't even know what the complete words might be, and
gets an arbitrary-looking suggestion. (Eyal)
+ AC should present a list of completions where the cursor is used to
pick one (Heiko)
=> WF; could be something for a macro/extension
* Image compression dialog : new field "modify the old resolution only
if the new one is less than"
+ https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=163737
+ unclear use case as batch operation is only the minimize
presentation (Heiko)
+ would reject the request as app second-guessing the user is odd (Eyal)
+ the compress dialog does not need such option, WF (Jan)
=> WF, macro/extension is welcome
