Hi Sophie,

Yes you can edit them and work on them anonymously, which i have
suggested others in the design team mailing list to do.

Without having a Google account ?

Yes without a google account, users can comment and modify these docs
and it will show up in the documents as track changes, which users who
have edit access (me, heiko, and kendy) can approve or reject. Any user
can also download a copy of the file ( File > Download As ) for backup
or offline use.

It's not to annoy you, but imagine in
6 or 7 years somebody willing to rework some parts based on your work,
it would be great that he is able to find the document easily, access
it easily, is able to modify it easily. If it's complicated, he will
restart from scratch and what you've done will be lost, which I find
sad.

I have always been thinking about the future regarding the research
documents i created for LO, which is why i prefer to create them in
google docs, rather then on my hard disk, as it provides collaborative
editing with others and always update my wiki profile page with links to
these documents ( https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/User:Philipz ).

Heiko also publishes the design session work we do, so that is another
means of backup of the work while it hasnt been fully completed. I would
assume that when it is fully completed, we would attach a copy of the
document to the bug report it is associated with as another means of backup.

If it is an issue of licensing, what license would you like the
documents that i create to be in order for them to be reused. I see the
wiki pages are licensed under cc by-sa.

So it's your creation, so you're the one who should chose the license :)
If you're ok with it, having the same than on the wiki is a good idea I
think.

Will always opt for the license that best suits the project. :D Looked
over the licenses for uploading images onto the wiki and both cc by and
cc by-sa are listed, so i think either would be good, but i'll have to
check with Heiko on his preference.

Cheers
Sophie

Regards,
Jay
