Hi Bunty, all,
Most simply put, the TAB page representation of recent document thumbnails
by type was dropped as a non-optimal GUI element for display of recently
used documents--shortly after it was implemented as a Google Summer of Code
project.
It actually was also dropped because the recent-files list can only
contain up to ~25 entries (up from 7 or so in Ooo). With so few files,
too much sorting simply does not make sense...
In future versions, sorting could make a comeback, but probably not via tabs.
Astron.
