I just added 95 shades to my version of the color list.
Reds
Blues
Yellows
Greens
Purples
and will be working on more as time permits.
Hope to have a new version to be placed on the "cloud" folders in a few
weeks.

I am slowly working on my color list file "standard.soc".
Health reasons stopped me for a bit, or at least slowed down my work
cycle.
I know that we can add custom colors internal to the Tools > Options
> LibreOffice > Colors.
I did that originally when there were some specific colors used in
brochure templates going around last year.
Yes, a color pricker for Writer might help some people. Since I do
not use Draw, or rarely, I use a color picker from a different
graphics package and write down the RGB Hex code and then add it
manually to my color list. That is what I use to do. Still do it
sometimes. But I have been working on adding a set of predefined
colors and their shading from the dark color to their "off white"
color. That gives the user some more option outside of the color
picker option.
As for "Tracking 32 colors", I am not sure about that. I do not
track colors, just offer the user more options than a small set of
colors. Of course there are people who think this is a waste of my
time. I do not think so. I had one person complain about listing
100 shades of gray - i.e. nearly black to nearly white. Since we have
some formatting options for lines, column borders, etc., to set the
gray level, then offering a visual of those shades of gray might be
useful.
I am currently taking "standard" colors and making some shading
options for them that works. The problem is figuring out the proper
steps so I am not offering 20 or more shades. I have some colors
that have 7 +/- shades already in my color list, but I want to create
the same thing for other colors that I do not have currently.
