I'm the engineer who works on the Windows installer. I find your design
very good looking, especially compared to what we currently have.
Please note, that there were quite few design criteria (from the
engineering point of view) when the current MSI installer was designed.
* single download
* MSI format for enterprise deployment
* multi-language
I hope that re-designed dialogs could fit into the existing MSI
framework, and we don't need another wrapper around MSI. Please continue
discussion about the ideal installer UI sequence, and when you have a
final design, please ping me, and we can start to implement is.
I'd like to revive this thread. We could make something beautiful for next
LibreOffice release. I'm very bad at design. But if you provide me with mockups,
I can try to implement it.
Thanks,
Andras
Regarding with the installer, I think an option that could be helpful
for users and for help them, would be the ability to reset the user
profile (while making backup), and if was possible by sections (first
folder level) even better.
I've seen many times, both in the mailing lists, as in Ask, and in the
forums, the need to restore the user profile, to solve problems due to a
corrupted user profile, which are often difficult to explain and almost
impossible to find.
Or maybe as independent program.
