Well I took this very much to the letter (ignoring the "skilled" part
so I could still get in) and added my not-so-pretty face and other
infos to the page.
You refer to this page: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Team
Adding yourself is highly appreciated.
Thanks to Phil Jackson and Klaus-Jürgen Weghorn to add themselves too...
Did I do wrong?
Not with regards to the team - probably with publishing your edit...
Is there any formal application to be part of the team?
No. The only condition is stated at the top of the team page:
"This page lists all deeply interested Design Team members, so that you
get to know each other. So, why not add your information as well?"

Might it be possible, that you didn't send your final edit, but stayed
in preview state without applying the changes finally by clicking the
left button ("Save changes") instead of the middle one?
I managed to do every now and then, so this might be the reason.
Perhaps you can add your info (and the picture, of course) to the page
again?
If it doesn't work again, we'll have to find the reason...
Just a note: I realized I had forgot to add a link
in the Whiteboard to the page with the Styles-and-formatting mock-up,
so I just did it. Here's it for those who might have missed:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Whiteboards/Styles_and_Formatting_window.
Thanks!
We definitely have to go on with this work...
Best regards
Bernhard
