Subject: Re: [libreoffice-design] Request: Design of a Logo for Extension-site

Hi all,

Just a quick thought - do we really need an additional logo for the site? Wouldn't it be better
to make the LibO main branding a bit stronger? By the way, how will the site itself be called?

Instead of a site logo, how about putting emphasis on the single items? For example: at OOo we
made the fault to confuse the users how extensions are visualized. On the extension site, we had
some kind of yellow Sputnik, all the icons within LibreOffice/OOo feature a jigsaw puzzle piece.

Concerning the latter, I think the metaphor is okay. So my proposal is to use a blue (LibO blue)
puzzle piece for this sub-section. Anything different would be inconsistent with our software.
Or, the other way round, we have the great chance to correct a mistake from the past :-)

Same for the templates ... will omit that. Still, it is a phone keyboard :-)

Cheers,
Christoph

Hi all,

I have worked (with the support of one of the core developers of Plone)
on a new environment for LibreOffice-Extensions, that we can setup on
one of the servers of The Document Foundation. The new environment is
currently on my local PC but will be soon available online.

I need for the further work on this new environment a logo for the
LibreOffice- Extension-Center. In my opion this new environment could
also host a repository for templates. Thus the logo should represent
both - extensions and templates.
Can you give us a short expected time plan of this?
Of course: yesterday, but be realistic
I'm realistic: last weekend ;-)

:
We need mindst one week for the proposals, three days for voting

But realistic: as much time as you need. I hope to get it asap, but we can run the
new site first without a final logo (like http://frodev.org). It would good to know
the size of the logo (because I had to customize the header of the site).

And on your issue it will be better to have a little bit more time
because it is really important to get a good symbol for the outsiders.

+1
(that's the reason why I ask on this list).

There is also a need for a first design scheme of the new site. But that
should be another thread. Where should I upload some pictures of the
current site (without customisation).
What do you think about making a new wiki page for "Extensions" to work
on the whole stuff? Or ask someone on the website-ml? I can't do it today.
I can ask there. But I think the wiki page should named Extensions-Site, because I
don't want to see any extension there.

Regards,
Andreas
