I reply to myself to add another aspect of the Windows installer that,
in my opinion, should be updated: the file association part.
The reason why, at work, i've waited to upgrade OpenOffice (actually
go-oo) from 2.4.1 was the (absurd, in my opinion) decision to remove the
possibility to change file associations from the installer, and, as a
consequence, from the reinstall/modify section.
I took part (with the bernicl name) in the lengthy discussion at:
http://openoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=96594
Finally the decision was reverted in 3.3 and the file association option
was restored
To me, that interface works well but, in my opinion, should be updated.
For example, i think that Works documents are spread enough to deserve a
check box in the installer file associations section.
And would be great if that interface could be ported, with more
granularity, as a tab in the options page.
Sorry for the noise.
Cesare.
