Hi all,

I'm sorry, that I haven't been able to reply to Nik's mail about the logo and it's possible improvement.

Christoph already replied with regards to the usage of the present logo in physical material and to keep it as it is.

In my eyes it should be possible to discuss slight modifications - but I want to have a decision by the team including all the aspects.

Now Charles asks us to provide a set of logos for the announcement of the Trademark Policy, so we don't have the time to define the way we want to go.

On the other hand: If we want to do any modification to the logo, it should be updated together with a modification of the product.

This means that any new logo should be wait until LibreOffice 3.4 at least. For this or the following minor version update we already thought of the Community Design - perhaps with a larger logo update.

And before we start a major overhaul of the logo and other branding elements, we need to define our goals, our mission, leading to a motif, a mascot - all the important stuff Nikash Singh, Thorsten Wilms, Johannes Bausch and others mentioned.

Reading Christoph's "Kick-off" approach, I think that this is the main part of Step 6 - probably starting in one or two weeks.

But as we need the logo without subline *now*, I'd like to ask you, if we can go with the current logo, but reducing the space between the elements, just like Nik proposed in his R03:

I don't want to provide new sublines at this time - we should discuss their advantages and preconditions with the marketing team before.

I created a new version of his proposal with a slightly enlarged LibreOffice text in relation to the symbol:

This will allow us to have a smaller minimal size (of the combined logo), because the text stays readable (=larger) in the logo.

Do you think we can use such a logo as a basis for the no-subline-logo necessary for the trademark?

Best regards

Bernhard
