Hi,

Just got an email from the organizers at the Southern Cal. LinuxFest,
which we will have a booth at. They are updating their website with
logos for the NP's.

I've asked if they have a specific size in mind, suppose I should ask
here also - anyone have a specific logo file they would want to use?

BTW - the response from them was - a PNG is preferred and larger then
200px wide would be good.

Tomorrow afternoon I would like to send it - if it is still the base SVG
file on the wiki page (the contemporary logo) I'll just take care of
it , thought I'd ask though.

I don't know how they want to present the logos, so I'd like to ask you
to add a phrase about not to reduce the empty area around the logo when
arranging the logos.

Perhaps they repeat the way they did last year
[http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale8x/exhibitors.html], but the logos
there have a reduced size of 100 px width.

Hi Bernhard

Well, I exported from the svg file to 200 px wide and then placed that
on a 240 px wide canvas, white background.

I went ahead and did 2, one at 66 px high and the other at 84

Then put these on a page, displayed at 100px (and full)

What do you think, number 1 or number 2 or do it again :)

If the logo will be presented at 100px, you should export it in this size, avoiding a re-scale by the website.

The question of using the full logo or only the text area depends on the final size on the SCaLE website: If they require larger logos, I think they will show them in larger scale, so you should go with number 1.

The 100px logo is barely readable, but I think this is caused by the re-size.

The best result would be a pixel adjusted export in the Inkscape source to 100px width, but this probably needs time we don't have these days.

So even if it will not reach the quality, I'd suggest to export a bitmap in 500px width and let GIMP rescale it using it's best algorithm (Lanczos3).

Only if the result is not good enough to read the text, I'd recommend to use the logo without symbol.

Hope this helps

Bernhard
