Hi :)
Happy new year all!!  Even to those that celebrate the beginning of a new year at other times.

It's a classic!  They claim that Base is easy to use as a front-end but haven't tried it
themselves.  Then they would rather sink tons of their resources into creating their own front-ends
and create their own quagmire of bugs.  Many of the problems they encounter as they create their
front-end may well have already been avoided or dealt with by the team that has worked on Base.
So, they need to create their own systems for bug-triage, fixing, testing and QA.

If they put those resources into using Base as their front-end then a LOT of the support and
development work would be done by people they didn't even have to pay.  Of course some of the work
they did pay for would be used by people that weren't using their product but those people would
become more aware of their product as a result.

From the looks of what they are doing they are probably going to have to develop something a bit
like Writer and the other modules/apps too.
Regards from
Tom :)

Subject: [libreoffice-marketing] LibreOffice and OpenERP

Hello all,

I got in touch with Fabrice Henrion (Director of Business Development
Americas at OpenERP) via LinkedIn, and here was his response to two points
the mailing list raised previously

1- Intentions to have an integration with LibreOffice?

We don't intend to work on a LibreOffice integration because we will
prefer to invest in a new report engine that will be more usable, more
integrated, allows drill-down, is embedded in the interface, etc...
However, I have read in the past certain people were able to get
LibreOffice to work with OpenERP 6; I didn't try it myself.

2- How to connect OpenERP with LibreOffice in v7?

You should install the module base_report_designer and follow the steps
explained during the installation.
