Hi Tim
There is no fee if you are using our server. You just have to configure
your Mumble to:
Address (Host server): vm3.documentfoundation.org
Port: 64738
Username: (pick one that you wish to use)
This will allow you to join our Mumble server.
Re: headset. There is no need for headset if you are "listening in", the
sound will come out of your speakers. If you are using your speaker with
a microphone, you will need to mute the microphone when not in use so
that people will not hear an echo when then listen on the conversation.
Re: Mumble site charging: the Mumble site offers server space for a fee
if people would like to use their server services. This is their way to
generate some income. We are NOT making use of any Mumble services as we
are running ALL of Mumble on a TDF server.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Marc

I did install it from the repository, but when I went to the Mumble
site to learn more about it, it stated that there was a server use fee.
I hope to find the headset soon so I can test out my hardware

Hi Tim:
All of the software is opensource. We are going to move away from Skype.
From what I understand, the latest version is in your Ubuntu
packages. Your packager should point to it.

Is Mumble free or not?
Their web site tells me that I have to pay about $16 for 3 months to
use their service.
So if I get the software working, would I have to pay to use the
service?
I may still have the headset with mic attached, but I have not
looked for in in a few years since I tried to get a Vista laptop to
reconize my voice so it would type what I speak. That was just
after a stroke caused hand problems so typing was more difficult
than now.

As we are to test the software for the next meeting I thought
that we could
post when we are on Mumble on this thread. So, if you are logged
in to
Mumble, just leave a note letting up know when you are on and
perhaps how
long you will be on. This way we can test it out for our next
meeting.
I am presently on Mumble 13:57 and should be on Mumble till
around 15:00. My
client is on.
Cheers
