Hi Jim,

Thanks for letting us know about this upcoming event.

Just to let the folks on the ML know, I've forwarded this to the
LibreOffice documentation ML and the ODFAuthors ML.

Will also add the information to the Events page on the wiki.

Best wishes,

Drew

Hello,

This morning I attended a presentation by Italo Vignoli at the Flourish Open
Source Conference in Chicago, and I spoke with him briefly after our
session. He suggested that I contact this list for help.

I'm part of a group that is organizing an Open Help Conference [0] to be
held in Cincinnati from June (June 3-5, with the opportunity to extend
participation in user sprints after the conference), and we were interested
in having a speaker / participant (or more than one speaker / participant)
from the LibreOffice project participate in the conference.

The conference focus isn't limited to just writing documentation/user help,
but it will focus on building user help communities, and engaging developers
in documentation, as well. We have a well-balanced portfolio of speakers
already (OpenStack, Mozilla, BSD, and others), but think that having someone
from LibreOffice could be mutually beneficial--having someone from your
group participate could not only help others understand the approaches used
by your teams in preparing documentation for an office suite, but could also
allow your team to discuss best practices with other professional technical
writers who are focused on open-source projects.

Please have a look at the website and let me or Shaun McCance (the primary
organizer, copied on this message) know if there is someone you could
recommend for possible participation in this conference. I am subscribed to
the list, and will also be following this thread, so feel free to also let
me know if you have any questions.

Thanks very much for your consideration,

Jim
