Hey everybody,

officially nabble is open source since ~2 years [0], although I cannot
find the sources any longer. :-(

Two months ago the mail dev announced that he will close most nabble
forums if he doesn't find way to generate a bit more money.[1]

As the software itself is rotten old: we should start evaluating to use
some new software as a drop-in replacement.

Any ideas for such a similar software?

Not software but a service provided by Framasoft:
https://framalistes.org/sympa/ but the code should be available
somewhere ;-)
and something I didn't investigate yet
https://github.com/zedshaw/librelist
There is a Discourse plug-in for mailing list but it's read only which
is not what we want.

Cheers
Sophie
