No. You should be able to install LO from www.libreoffice.org next to
the version that comes with your distribution.
Of course it might be needed to clean up any inconsistent state you
are in before installing LibreOffice, but given the situation that you
have installed the version of LibreOffice from your distro, and then
install LibreOffice from www.libreoffice.org, you don't have to
uninstall the distro-version.
The conflict with of the distro-package only was in pre-release version.
