Hi,

Would it be possible for us to try to upstream some of those changes
and/or externalize them as plugins to reduce our burden on each
upgrade? I'm not really sure what these "wishes issued" were, so I
don't have a good picture of the total amount of work we've layered on
top of the official source.

I don't have much experience with Django, but if there's a repo
available with our local changes, perhaps I or other members of the
community could help with some of this porting/upstreaming burden?

I think you have to ping Alex directly, since I am not in the know at all what kind of customizations we have done, and whether we have been trying to upstream these already.

In general, I agree - making them upstream is best, of course, since contributing to open source projects is fun. :) Should upstream not work, a plugin (if AskBot has something like that) might be an option, too.

I know Alex needed to make some code changes, but I don't know the details - best is to ask him directly about this, preferably Cc'ing this list, so we can share the knowledge.

Florian
