We provide a gmail gadget that can decode base64

http://www.libreoffice.org/mod/gmailwidget (with or without https,
doesn't matter)

For me that links shows a blank/empty page

That above link is meant to be added to the gmail webinterface via
Settings → Gadgets → add gadgets by URL
(to get this item, you have to enable the "add gadgets by URL" lab extension)

If you want to try it outside of gmail, either use the referenced
widget itself (i.e. what gmail would display:
http://www.libreoffice.org/mod/gmail or the version that is a little
more verbose:
http://www.libreoffice.org/mod

The last one is of not so much use anymore. Previously the widget did
automatically translate the decoded message to english, and the page
would display both the original text as well as the translation. But
google does no longer proivde the api free of charge, so the widget
has been converted to use google's website-translation feature.
(Translation is helpful for fallback moderators)

ciao
Christian
