The latter one. Videos consume a lot of (backup) space, so hosting them
would require lots of space.
For embedding, I'd probably go with
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Widgets and the corresponding
platform-specific widgets
That sounds like a good plan, indeed.
