*Dear LibreOffice Support,*

Could you please explain how to set up mirrored page numbers in the header,
beginning from a chosen page but excluding the front matter? Additionally,
how can I alternate the author name and book title in the header?

I am using version 25.2.5.2

You need different page styles for right and left pages, such as are already provided in the default set of page styles. The predefined ones alternate automatically. Only the first occurrence of a right page has to be set as paragraph property on the first paragraph of that page. There you can set the starting page number as well.

Then you have automatically different headers and footers for right and left pages, so it is no problem to put different fields in the headers.

How to handle the first page depends on whether there are pages between the front matter and the body text, for example for a table of content.

Kind regards,
Regina
