The trick with deleting Entry items finally got me what I was after.
After a little trial-and-error I found that deleting the "Entry" item 
got rid of the redundant chapter heading.
With a little luck, I may now have achieved, what I was trying to.

Also my thanks to Mrs. Herschel. I printed Mr. Jackson's and Mrs. 
Herschel's instructions, most of which I already had implemented,
and now have, what I wanted (hopefully).

The next hurdle coming up, will be to make all this formatting appear in 
the epub file required for electronic publishing.
(Just saving an .odt file as an .epub file does NOT do the trick.)

With all the things I learn here, I might even be able to help someone 
else in the future ...
