in my version (7.6.6.3) I can not see any check box marked "link".
There is a Hyperlink tab, but except for 3 fields on top, the bottom half of the box is just a plain white area.

And yes, I came to the conclusion to have the images in a dedicated folder. That I did for some time already. Apparently now I have to figure out something elegant to move the set of writer file+image folder around my computers.

I will report when I found something.
And when I find out, whether the ePublishers are satisfied with the results.
