it's just a guess from me, can it be that you call new documents via
your file manager?
If that's the case, you should get into the habit of launching
LibreOffice and your document template should be available there
immediately.

I've got a template I've built that I use for almost all of my

But for some reason the default setting keeps getting getting removed
so that when I open a new Writer document it opens with some generic
template rather than the one I've built.
What can be causing that?
I recently updated to LO 7.3.6.2 from a 7.3.5.x version. Hopefully
that shouldn't have unset my default template, should it? What else
might be causing this to happen? I think also it happened previous to
my update.
I'm running Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS on a Dell XPS.
