[libreoffice-users] crash on opening as user but not as root. libreoffice6.3

I must append SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen before running libreoffice6.3.4 to get it to open. However, as root I can open it only as libreoffice6.3. Any thoughts as to why I can't open it as a user? I am using Linux x86_64 under Mageia7 and installed rpm packages. Any thoughts as to why it will not run as a regular user without the SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen?
