I have a table m×n in calc that i would like to reduce to a single column with col. B's data below column A's, column C below that and so forth. Is it possible to do this automatically or do i have to do it "by hand?"

It is difficult to see how any automatic process could be simpler or quicker that doing it by hand. You'd need to indicate which rows were to be moved - omitting perhaps title rows and totals rows and so on. Anything else would be magic.

Manual methods are quite easy:

o Select all the data in column B. To do this, either drag over the data cells or click one end of the range and Shift+click the other.
o Cut or Copy .
o Paste into the first cell below the data in column A.
o Delete columns B, C, etc. if desired.

Or:
o In the first cell below the data in column A, type "=" (no quotes).
o Click in the first data cell in column B.
o Press Enter or click the green arrow in the Input Line.
o Select the cell with the new formula and drag down to fill sufficient cells in column A. (No problem if you go too far: you will be overwriting any extra entries.)
o Repeat in the cell below that data in column A for column C.
o And so on.
Now - and this is important - you have formulae in most of column A. If you now delete the other columns, your values will disappear! So:
o Copy all the data in column A.
o Paste it back over itself, but using Paste Special instead of ordinary Paste and ensuring that Formulae is *not* ticked in the Paste Special dialogue.

There are ways of doing this with a formula (try a web search) but that is probably more error-prone unless you want to do the necessary testing and use the result frequently.

Alternatively, simply leave your data where it is and modify any formulae to achieve the results you need despite this.

I trust this helps.
