If using Write, maintaining scale while resizing an image is the default
when dragging the handles to resize. At least in version 5.4.5.1 it is.

It was a Base database. As it turned out, I had simply not noticed that
the Control for the images had reached the end of screen, with the last
two or three entries hidden. Once I realised (thanks, Remy) and I
scrolled down it was easy to correct.
