Hi :)
You might need to ask on the dev's mailing list. They probably use irc or
whatever. From your posts it sounds like you would often get better
responses from them.
It sounds like you are doing great stuff that they might appreciate. Note
that they might not be people-friendly and may say things an odd way around
sometimes. Also they are all individuals so a rebuke from 1 is very
unlikely to be anything the rest agree with, and may not even be meant as a
rebuke so try not to take offence. People on this mailing-list might be
able to help understand what they are really trying to say if you have any
problems.
Another good team to join is the QA bug-reporting team. They prolly have
an odd mix of people - more so than this mailing-list. Someone of your
skills and interests might start with a bit of triaging to help sort out
how important each bug is, whether you can repeat the problem, and/or file
the bug-report in the appropriate place. Some of that could easily be done
by a non-coder but it might be good experience to do a couple of those
before moving into working on coding.
There are many non-coding areas that people from this mailing list might
enjoy and be really helpful with. There is documentation (published guides
and wiki-editing etc), translation (between human languages), marketting,
design and so on. It's often good to try 2 or 3 different types of roles
before settling down on 1 thing - although a good long run in 1 area can
also be a good way to start. Hopefully we each find an area we can enjoy
working in.
This mailing-list is a good one to keep coming back to and we might be able
to help ease you into whichever other area you try.
Good luck and many regards from
a Tom :)
