Something must have changed in my setup in the past couple of weeks but
I'm not aware of having made any significant change in the area where
I'm now having a problem. Unless maybe some 'update' introduced a
behavioral change.

Earlier this year, I prepared a lengthy document in Writer containing
some 70 odd diagrams (using Writer 4.2.8.2 in UbuntuStudio 1404). A
couple of weeks ago, I started another document needing several images
using a new, clean, installation of UbuntuStudio 1604.1 with Writer
5.1.4.2 and the insertion of images seemed to me to behave in exactly
the manner I was used to. And I have put plenty of images into documents.

That is : using Insert > image and selecting the image file in the
browser box. This automatically installed the image within a larger
frame. The frame was exactly the same width as the image but taller and
in the space beneath the image but still inside the surrounding frame
was the caption containing a field 'Number range Figure' and the
description I would enter.

Yesterday, I decided that I needed to add a few more images to this
latter document. So I did exactly the same Insert > image, and the
result was an image WITHOUT a surrounding frame. I thought I might have
made some changes in my template - but all the templates, and no
template, behave the same way now.

I have looked at the earlier document and the new one with images
inserted already having a frame and the ones without a frame and I can't
see any likely differences in the frame or graphics styles definitions.

In any new document, an image inserted which now appears without its
frame only shows 'Graphics' in the list of applied styles ('frame' is
only present in the list of 'all' styles).

I don't see any way to associate a graphic with a frame so that a single
insert installs them both suitably married together. Quite likely, I've
missed something.

Does anyone have an idea what might have changed and how I can get back
to the way it was ?

Philip
