Thank you. I tried it and it worked, ... and the security file is
intact. :) :)

Hi :)
I think it's a left-over from a previous era that is rarely useful
nowadays. Just click on "don't bother to attempt to recover because i'm
happy with just opening the file" - or however it phrases it!
In reverse order ...
3. No, password protection is not a factor with LO's / AOO's desire to try
to apologise for having been shut-down and it's attempt to please it's
human in a somewhat nervous way. Firefox tries to do something similar.
2. No the file is unlikely to be missing anything or to be at all
damaged. In the last 10 or so years many advances in technology have
reduced both the chance of a hardware, firmware or software crash happening
in the first place (even in Windows) and have reduced the chance of such
crashes damaging anything. Journalised file-systems such as Ntfs and Ext3
(or higher) have become quite widely used, as one example.
1. I don't know why this still exists but it "goes against the grain" to
post a feature request to make things more vulnerable ! Maybe it is time
to relegate this feature to being a menu-item, such as the "Help" menu or
somewhere.

Tom :)

Whenever I start LO 5, I get a message about a file that is damaged and I
am asked if I want to fix it. I say yes, LO comes back and says it cannot
be fixed.
I am able to access the file (password protected SS) with no problem.
I am offered the option of deleting information regarding fixing the
problem. Once when this happened months ago, I said yes. I got an 'are
you sure?' msg box. This worries me.
Q1: Why am I receiving this when I can access the file fine?
Q2: What is in the file that has recovery information; is the the damaged
file?
Q3: Is the fact that the file is password protected a factor here?
