No.  I can't think of why I would have non-displaying calculated fields, 
except doe a hidden column, and not on this file.
I think it has something to do with the date column.  I just tried a 
file of the same structure a couple of years old.  It loaded much faster 
(5-10 seconds), paused for a bit with the progress bar in the middle. 
but nowhere as slow.  In the months after December, it even takes a 
while to move horizontally.  I do calcs of 3 balance columns, links to a 
chart of accounts in a different page of this file, and others.  It 
seems that even though I am not using the date field as a data, it still 
is causing LO grief.  I think I will convert this column to text to see 
if it makes a difference.
