Sourceforge, which is where Apache OpenOffice is distributed from, is
notorious for offering additional software, to the point that people
can, and do end up not downloading the program that they intended.  All
of this is in the name of advertising dollars, which is how Sourceforge
generates revenue.

With a good selection of anti-malware tools installed, you will receive
ample warnings, and explanations.

However, the most reliable way to ensure that malware is not installed
in the first place, is for the computer to not be connected to any other
computers.  Do all required data transfers via CD/DVD.
