I am trying to come to grips with Templates and Slide Masters in
Impress, and I am not sure exactly what the difference is. Does
anyone know of a good place to see a discussion of this?
It's all explained in Chapter 2 of the Impress Guide:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/a/ac/IG40-ImpressGuideLO.pdf .
As in other types of document in LibreOffice, a presentation is begun
with exactly one template. But each slide in a presentation has
exactly one slide master, and any number of slide masters can be used
within any presentation. In this way, slide masters are similar to
page styles in text (Writer) documents and they have the same
property: that changes can be made to a slide master which then
cascade through to those slides based on that slide master.
I trust this helps.
