It does: if your original format, say, is DD/MM/YY, then that is how the axis values will appear. It keeps the format, not the values.

I tried the "X-Y Scatter" chart type; it still didn't give me what I wanted, and I don't like the "graph" line.

You can have X-Y Scatter without the line if you prefer.
