Ahh, you missed the important bit.  Google is a 3rd party independent organisation so there is not 
much point discussing their decisions.  They still support us and i think we should keep supporting 
them.  That's not the issue.  The important thing is what their research discovered about OOXML and 
other MS formats and their conjecture based on that.

It is a VERY interesting discussion but probably would make more sense at
the Discuss mailing list and not at the User or Dev. Maybe there we can even
get a comment from a TDF member? :)
