Thanks Brian. With a little finagling, I got this to work!

We are using Windows XP, SP3, LibreOffice 3.5.5.3
We have created a Calc spreadsheet and want to show the time in the
header. When we print the sheet, the time shows military time. Is
there a way to change that to show 12 hour time? I know that we
would have to enter am or pm if needed.
Not that I know of - but there may be a workaround. You can arrange
for a row or rows of a Calc spreadsheet to be repeated on every page
of the printout.
o In a suitable cell in a low-numbered row, enter =NOW()
o Format that cell suitably - perhaps as H:MM AM/PM
o Go to Format | Print Ranges > | Edit... .
o Under "Rows to repeat", click the Shrink button at the right.
o Click a cell in the required row or drag across cells in the required
rows.
o Click the Shrink button again and then click OK.
You will need to update the time before you print on each
occasion. To do this, go to Tools | Cell Contents > | Recalculate
(or just press F9).
I trust this helps.
