Hi :)
Ahhah.  I thought it was just a words list rather than giving meanings too.  i vaguely recognise
the name so it must be good!  I never recognise the names of computer dictionaries except ones that
used to be well-renowned printed tomes.
Regards from
Tom :)

There is an OFFLINE dictionary package, for Windows and Linux, called
Artha.  Once installed and started it will reside in memory to the point
that a hot key "ctrl-alt-w" will open its "window". It is an offline
dictionary and thesaurus, so it is good for those people who do not want
to do an online lookup, or using a laptop in a wifi dead-zone.

It is the best solution I have found for having a definition-dictionary
to use when I need to look up a word's meaning.  The thesaurus function
has many options to it as well.

Artha come in Windows and Linux versions.  You can Google it for their
web site, or go to my listing.

http://libreoffice-na.us/English-3.5-installs/extras.html at the bottom
under Language Aids.

I now include it in all my NA-DVD versions.

Hi :)
I think just googling words is likely to get a better list of dictionaries and thus a better
idea of what the word means.

It might be a good idea to post a feature request about getting something like that added to
LibreOffice!  It might be a nice touch.  I guess problems would include;
1.  how to set which dictionary
2.  would the dictionary be on-line or include an option to download one?  (a 3rd party one
would be best rather than trying to maintain a new one in TDF imo)
3.  would the button open the default web-browser or would the meaning appear within the LO
interface somehow, maybe the status-bar.

You can post a feature request by just posting a normal bug-report.  I have been told that the
various drop-downs at the top include options such as "Feature Request" and "Easy Hacks"
alongside the normal options that other projects have.  Someone recently said they couldn't find
the option in the drop-downs so just add this into the subject-line
[feature request]
or
[wish-list]

Subject: [libreoffice-users] Writer: word meaning and about information

Good morning everybody!

I'm just a beginner using LibreOffice (thanks so much for the suite!) and this is my first post
to the list, so... be indulgent with me :)

Question: in Writer I do not find how to obtain the meaning of a word, neither the –online–
encyclopedic information about it. I'm sorry :/ Where are the "Look Up in Dictionary and
Thesaurus", the "Search in Wikipedia", or at least, the "Search in
The-Web-Search-Engine-Of-Your-Choice" options?

I cannot find the answer in the Internet, so I need your help :)

Thank you very much :)
